# Is brachytherapy available in Turkey?

Sometimes, but it depends on the exact technique your case needs. Brachytherapy is internal radiation: the National Cancer Institute describes it as radioactive material sealed in seeds, ribbons or capsules and placed in or near the tumor, so the radiation affects mainly that part of the body. NCI lists it for cancers of the cervix, prostate, breast, head and neck, and eye, among others, and it can be low-dose-rate (a source left in place for a period) or high-dose-rate (delivered in brief sessions). Availability is hospital- and technique-specific — a center may offer gynecologic brachytherapy but not prostate seed implants, or high-dose-rate but not low-dose-rate. Confirm that the specific technique your doctors are considering is genuinely offered, at a named, state-authorized facility, rather than assuming it from a general radiation-therapy service.
