# Is robotic (da Vinci) cancer surgery available in Turkey?

Not everywhere, and two things must both be true at a given center. The National Cancer Institute describes robotic surgery as minimally invasive surgery in which the surgeon controls robotic arms holding instruments through small incisions while viewing a magnified 3D image; it is used for prostate, kidney, uterine, cervical, colorectal and other cancers. First, the hospital must have actually installed a robotic surgical system — such as a da Vinci. Second, and just as important, it must have a surgeon trained and experienced in your specific operation on it; owning the machine is not the same as having performed many of your procedure. NCI notes robotic surgery is not proven superior for every cancer — outcomes track the surgeon and the case. Confirm both the system and the surgeon's experience directly with a named, state-authorized facility.
