BRAF
BRAF is a human gene that makes a protein called B-RAF, which helps send signals inside cells and is involved in cell growth.
BRAF is a gene that makes a protein called B-RAF, which is involved in sending signals in cells and in cell growth. This gene may be mutated (changed) in many types of cancer, which causes a change in the B-RAF protein. According to the NCI, this change can increase the growth and spread of cancer cells.
NCI notes that many patients with cancers that can carry BRAF changes have their tumors tested for such cancer-related genetic changes to help guide their treatment choices.
