Cancer treatment in Istanbul for patients from Germany
Istanbul is one of Europe's larger private-oncology hubs and a familiar destination for many families in Germany, particularly within Germany's large Turkish community. Hospital protocols are benchmarked against European practice, and the free second opinion gives you an itemized, comparable treatment plan you can weigh against the care you've been offered at home — without any claim that one country is universally better, which depends on the individual case.
Getting from Germany to Istanbul

Frequent direct flights connect Istanbul with Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf and other German cities, typically around 3–3.5 hours nonstop. We confirm the best current routing for your city once your case is scheduled.
German ordinary passport holders are exempt from a visa for stays of up to 90 days (verified against mfa.gov.tr, 17 Jul 2026). If multi-cycle treatment could run longer than that, see the visa & length-of-stay guide for the residence-permit path, whose duration follows your actual treatment length rather than a fixed cap.
Consultation and the written assessment are handled in English, and medical translation of your German-language reports is part of the free service — you don't need to translate anything yourself first.
Insurance and reimbursement, honestly
Germany's statutory health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) is built to fund care within Germany and the EU/EEA framework; whether any of your cover reaches elective treatment in Turkey depends on your specific situation, and it is not something we can determine for you. There are arrangements we cannot assess on your behalf — for example, provisions that can apply to some statutory-insured people under the Germany–Turkey social security agreement — so the only reliable answer is the one your Krankenkasse or private insurer gives you in writing.
If you hold private insurance (private Krankenversicherung) or an employer/international policy, confirm directly with the insurer before you travel — including any pre-authorization requirement, approved-hospital list, or documentation they need to consider reimbursement. We could not find a general provision that automatically reimburses elective cancer treatment in Turkey, but your own policy or circumstances may differ; please verify it rather than relying on this page.
We don't process insurance claims, negotiate with insurers, or guarantee any reimbursement. We can provide itemized invoices and medical documentation from the treating hospital for you to submit yourself. This is general information, not insurance advice — always check the specific wording of your own policy.
