Cancer treatment in Istanbul for patients from Algeria

Getting from Algeria to Istanbul
Direct flights connect Istanbul with Algiers, and seasonally with other Algerian cities, on Turkish Airlines and Air Algérie — typically under four hours. Schedules and routing change, so check current options directly with the airlines when you book.
For Algerian ordinary passport holders, Turkey's rule is age-based: nationals under 15 and over 50 are exempt from a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period, while those aged 15–50 require a visa — an e-visa is available online for eligible applicants aged 15–18 or 35–50 who already hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit, while others in the 15–50 band apply through a Turkish consulate (verified against mfa.gov.tr, 22 Jul 2026). Many oncology patients fall in the visa-exempt age bands; check your own case against the visa & length-of-stay guide. If a visa application needs a hospital invitation letter, request it directly from the hospital you choose.

Paying for treatment: private, and planning around currency controls

Algeria applies strict foreign-exchange controls that limit how much hard currency you can obtain and transfer for treatment abroad, so plan the payment side early: confirm with your own bank and the Bank of Algeria what is permitted for medical travel, and how funds can be moved, before you commit to dates. If you hold private or employer insurance, confirm what applies with the insurer in writing before booking — including pre-authorization, approved hospitals, and documentation. We could not find a general provision that automatically reimburses elective treatment in Turkey; your own arrangement may differ, so please verify it.
