Istanbul is a familiar and close destination for patients from Kosovo, reached by direct flights from Pristina in well under two hours. Getting from Kosovo to Istanbul
Direct flights connect Istanbul with Pristina, typically around 1.5–2 hours — check current routing directly with the airlines when you book, and note that many diaspora patients route through Germany, Switzerland or Austria, which also have frequent direct flights to Istanbul.
Kosovar ordinary passport holders are exempt from a visa for tourism and transit stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, counted from your first entry (verified against mfa.gov.tr, 22 Jul 2026). Official guidance references travel on a valid passport rather than a national ID card, so plan to carry your passport; check your own case against the visa & length-of-stay guide before you travel. If a longer stay or any application ever needs a hospital invitation letter, request it directly from the hospital you choose.

If you hold private or employer insurance, or a sponsor's plan might cover part of the cost, confirm what applies with the insurer in writing before booking — including pre-authorization, approved hospitals, and documentation. We could not find a general provision that automatically reimburses elective treatment in Turkey; your own arrangement may differ, so please verify it. Kosovo's public health system does not fund elective treatment abroad on demand, so treat any such route as something to confirm directly with the relevant authority, not something we can arrange.
